Frankie:

With over 15 years of teaching experience, Frankie Walker is one of the UK's Senior Yoga Teachers. Since 2008, she has led classes, workshops, and yoga courses, including her own Somatic Yoga Training across the UK and at many of London's top yoga studios. Frankie is also the resident teacher for award-winning retreats, a Somatic Movement Educator (BMCA) and Developmental Movement Therapist, and a critically acclaimed performance artist.

Frankie's classes cater to various needs and preferences, offering styles ranging from dynamic and challenging flows to slower therapeutic sessions. Each class is infused with creativity, exploration, and a deep understanding of yoga's postures, practices, and philosophy. Expect warm, encouraging, and innovative sessions designed to inspire curiosity and connection.

Specialising in Scaravelli-inspired yoga and Somatic Movement, Frankie is also highly regarded for her one-to-one work, particularly with postnatal clients, performers, and individuals recovering from injury or surgery. She has extensive experience working with adults on the autism spectrum, delivering low-cost community yoga programmes for Housing associations and women's refuges across London and delivering Movement for Wellbeing programs for NSH and Third sector Healthcare centres.

Frankie's yoga journey began in India, where she immersed herself in her initial training within a traditional Yoga system at an ashram in South India. Over the years, she has drawn inspiration from both traditional and contemporary teachers, with particular influence from Vanda Scaravelli, Somatic Movement, and Embodiment practices. She continues her studies with Bonnie Bainbridge Cohen's practice of Body-Mind Centering (TM), building on her background in Iyengar, Ashtanga, and Shadow Yoga to focus on intelligent alignment, functional anatomy, and freedom within the practice.

Before becoming a yoga teacher, Frankie trained as an artist, specialising in performance, contemporary dance, and movement. Her creative work has taken her across the UK, Europe, India, and Australia as a performer, dancer, director, and facilitator. This artistic foundation brings a distinctive sense of playfulness and curiosity to her teaching approach.

Frankie's passion lies in helping others cultivate awareness and curiosity about their inner experience and freedom within the home of their bodies. She invites students to explore what lies beneath the surface—the movements, patterns, and sensations that connect us to ourselves, to each other and ultimately, to a universal belonging.

Frankie has trained with yoga teachers such as:

Usha Devi, Prahlada Reddy, Catherine Annis, John Stirk, Lolly Stirk, Tim Cummins, Stuart Gilchrist, Claudia Dossena, Aki Omori and Leila Sadagee.

"What a superb class and your teaching is simply beautiful. Thank you so much. I’m 67 and do Tai Chi every day. It was releasing and energy-giving. Fabulous. I enjoyed it thoroughly and came a way feeling good!"

  • 1-1 Sessions Client

“Following my four sessions I treated myself to a day retreat with Frankie, a day of yoga and somatic movement. The whole day was pure luxury and more learning, spending so many hours focused on only the body is quite an experience. I thoroughly recommend Frankie as both a yoga instructor and practitioner and look forward to working with her again some time."

  • Retreat Client

“I felt secure and happy to be held by 2 complimentary women, each fully in their power and excluding so much love for the participants”

  • Professional Training Student

“The matter of care course with Frankie was mind-blowing; I truly embodied the teachings, so not only did I go away with new skills for my yoga and massage clients, but I had repatterned my body and had some beautiful self-healing. The way Frankie teaches is so gentle yet deep and very professional with lots of laughter and heart-filled smiles.”

  • 1-1 Client

“I've had four weekly sessions of movement therapy with Frankie following back surgery, towards the end of my recovery. The whole experience has been hugely beneficial, Frankie took the time to completely gain an understanding of what was going on for me physically and fine tune her treatment to everything I had going on. Frankie's knowledge and confidence on the subject of the body and movement as therapy is outstanding and so interesting to witness as a client, I learnt so much! Some of the improvements were instant and others I have to build on myself.

Frankie left me with exercises to go away with so that I can continue my recovery at home and I'm confident in her instruction to do so”

Frankie's gentle explorative approach is both supportive and encouraging, she assists you to experimentally understand how fluids in your body affect movement and affect sensation. The approach is refreshing and welcome in a world where focus is often on the musculature of the body. I found it to be very grounding and made some learnings through these sessions that continue to live on and grow in new ways all the time in my physical yoga practice and in my life.

I found Frankie after a car accident in search of a gentle way of mobilizing my body again. Although I was not seriously injured I had lost confidence in moving and stretching. Through 1:1 classes Frankie guided me through some very daring postures and taught me to trust and listen to my body and what it needed.

These sessions have enabled me to attend classes and feel sure I can try things without further injury which is what I wanted. However I have got so much more from Frankie's teachings. I've found a way of weaving peace into a very full and busy life and I feel sure yoga will be a part of my life forever now.

I'd recommend lessons from Frankie to everyone. She's knowledgeable, genuine, experienced and delivers the theory with enough tongue and cheek to allow me to indulge in it all without fear of seeming pretentious. she doesn't care if you're not dressed in the right gear or don't know what a yoga strap is. She is the original 'pop up' yoga teacher and I'm extremely pleased I found her.

Frankie is a teacher of vast integrity and understanding. She lives the practice and so brings not only a deep practical knowledge but the ability to translate that knowledge into a map, a pathway for me to practice with. I find myself able to follow the vision and philosophy of yoga and emerge, always, empowered, deepened and opened when I practice with her.
